My dad asked me if I wanted join him and Mom for dinner and live jazz music at a local Cajun restaurant called Brielle’s Bistro. I love spending time with my folks, and since we usually hang at their place, the idea of checking out a local spot (that I’d never even heard of) piqued my interest.
When we arrived, the music was already in full swing. They played lots of familiar tunes as well as some I didn’t recognize, and one thing was clear: they were having a blast! The energy between them was fantastic and the restaurant patrons were clearly enjoying it, too.
I ordered fried shrimp with green beans and jalapeño mac, and my parents both ordered blackened catfish with crawfish etoufee. The server was attentive and helpful, and the food arrived within a very reasonable amount of time. (It could’ve taken even longer and we probably wouldn’t have noticed because we were enjoying the music so much.)
The food looked great and tasted…just wow. We were all impressed. We asked if they had beignets since we didn’t see them on the menu. The server said no but said she’d check with the chef. Before our meal was over, we had two different kinds of beignets on our table (regular and blueberry).
We were all blown away by the service, the food, and the value. The total bill was only $46.97! (Thank you, Daddy!)
My only regret about tonight was not wearing stretchy pants. I looked four months pregnant by the time we left and my cute summer dress was wildly uncomfortable. Not a cute look on me.
As of the time of this blog, their next live music event is Sunday, August 2nd, 2020. Grab a few friends or your kiddos and go check it out. It’s a great way to support a local small business. Tell them Rachel sent you (so they can look at you like you’re crazy because they don’t know me).
